Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls Fire Rescue Services Mission
The primary mission of the Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls Fire Rescue Services is to protect the lives and property of the community we serve, by providing prompt and professional services in the event of fire, emergencies, disasters, or any other event which may threaten the public welfare.
Resources
Station 1 is located at Sioux Narrows. Station 2 is located at Nestor Falls. Our service includes three pumpers, one rapid attack unit, two utility units, and one marine unit.
Team Members
Our Fire Rescue Services Department is comprised of a dedicated group of local volunteers who are specially trained in the provision of Fire Suppression and Rescue Services. Our Chief of Fire Rescue Services, Mike Kakeeway, is a resident of Sioux Narrows.
Training
Our service complies with the Ontario Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Ontario. We have programs in place for Personnel Education/Training, Community Emergency Management, Smoke Detectors and Public Education and Awareness. With provincial funding, we have purchased new equipment and gear. Our Fire Rescue Service Personnel have been participating in ongoing local training, including live fires and controlled burns. We also partner with other departments in the area, Lake of the Woods Search and Rescue and the Ministry of Natural Resources, to participate in regional training exercises on a wide variety of topics. These training activities provide our firefighters with the tools they need to effectively provide fire rescue services in our municipality.
