Book Trading Post

The Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls Book Trading Posts initiative is dedicated to promoting literacy, fostering a love of reading, and creating connections among community members. This community-driven effort includes the establishment of Little Free Libraries—small, accessible book exchanges that invite residents to take a book and leave a book.
Sioux Narrows Book Trading Post
Located near the entrance of the Northern Ontario Sportfishing Centre, this Book Trading Post enhances the local streetscape and supports the area’s book culture. Designed and constructed by Jake Blosser, who drew inspiration from the Boreal forest of Northwestern Ontario, it is open from Victoria Day weekend in May through Labour Day weekend in September. We invite everyone to visit, take a book, and contribute a book!
Nestor Falls Book Trading Post
This community-designed and built Book Trading Post is situated at the Nestor Falls Information Centre. It represents the collective effort of local residents to enrich the community through reading.

Create Your Own Little Free Library
Inspired by the success of Little Free Libraries, we encourage individuals to build their own library boxes, roughly the size of a dollhouse. Former Mayor Bill Thompson urges all residents to participate: “I encourage all residents, young and old, to come out to build their very own Little Free Library!”
History of Little Free Libraries
The Little Free Library movement began in 2009 in Hudson, Wisconsin. Todd Bol created the first Little Free Library as a tribute to his mother—a book lover and school teacher. He mounted a wooden structure resembling a schoolhouse on a post, with a sign inviting people to “Take a Book, Leave a Book.” This simple yet powerful concept has since grown into a global community initiative.
We invite you to join the movement, engage with your local Book Trading Post, and help build a vibrant book-sharing culture in our community!
