Earth Month: Community Cleanup Days

Earth Day becomes Earth Month.
As the snow begins to slowly melt and the trees start to re-emerge, April brings a natural shift one where the landscape shows us both its beauty and the work ahead.
Each year, Earth Day reminds us to take a moment to care for the environment around us. This season, the trail department has decided to take that idea a step further by turning Earth Day into Earth Month. Creating an opportunity to carry that care forward throughout April.
Across the trail network, small signs of winter begin to surface. The snow trail softening, fallen branches and debris revealed by the thaw, and areas of off cut build up that need to be hauled out, before the busy summer season arrives. Rather than focusing efforts on a single day, Trail Cleanup Days will take place throughout the month, rotating between all three trail locations to support ongoing maintenance and preparation.
This approach not only helps distribute the work more effectively but also opens the door for greater community involvement. Whether you are able to join us in a scheduled cleanup day, lending a hand for a short time, or simply keeping an eye out while enjoying the trails, every contribution plays a role in maintaining these shared spaces.
Volunteers are welcome to participate on any of the scheduled cleanup days throughout April. No prior experience is required, and all are encouraged to take part at a level that works for them. For those who prefer to explore independently, noticing and reporting areas that may need attention is equally valuable.
As the season changes, this initiative is a reminder that caring for our trails doesn’t need to be limited to one day, it can be part of how we experience and appreciate these spaces for many years to come.
Cleanup dates and locations can be found on the Earth Month Trail Cleanup poster below.
Hope to see you there!
