About the Residency

What is That?

The Bridge & Falls CREATIVE RESIDENCY offers artists substantial opportunities to develop their art practice further. The self-guided residency program is dedicated to offering artists, curators, and all manner of creative people the essential time and place away from the pressures and habits of everyday life and experience framed within a unique geographic and cultural context.

With all of the residencies, small stipends have been provided for travel and accommodations. Food and personal expenses are the responsibility of the artist/ idea professional. However, residencies are opportunities for artists to travel and get inspired from other environments. It is also a great way to interact with other artists, engaging in a dialogue and learning new techniques.

Vision Statement

With the full support of Mayor & Council, the Township of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls is supporting a framework that bridges our natural environs with tiny, purpose-built dedicated cultural spaces, designed to create connections to nature, history and heritage. The residency program is curated to encourage creative people, from the region and from away to participate in a self-guided residency: in rural and remote northwestern Ontario.

Past Participants

The artists come by plane, by automobile and on foot – whatever their mode of transportation, each artist is welcomed to the communities of Sioux Narrows and Nestor Falls to start and end the creative residency – wrapped around the cultural context and geographic region of the eastern shores of Lake of the Woods.

THIS residency is your residency. The Township is here to act as a host, an incubator of sorts – so that each artist can develop their own body of work, in their own way and on their own time.
