Virtual Red Pine Trail – Mystery Story

Arriving at Red Pine Trail
You pull into the Red Pine Trail parking lot in Nestor Falls and step into the cool evening air. Ahead, along Trail #4 just beneath the branches, you notice something on a tree. Once you get closer you notice it is the first page of a mystery leading you through The Red Pine Trail.

Into the trees
Leaves whisper beneath your feet as you follow the trail, while leaving the parking lot behind. Tall beautiful red pines rise among pale birch trunks, their branches overlapping the trail. The path curves out of sight from where you began, and within a few steps you find yourself completely surrounded by the forest.
A glimpse through the branches
While you make your way towards the next page, you notice a gap in the trees, you catch a glimpse of the cemetery to your left, sitting beside the trail reminding you you're not alone. The path carries you over two bike jumps before another page draws you to a stop.

Following the bend
To your right, the mixed forest gives way to a change and becomes overtaken by red pines, their tall trunks stretching into the distance. As enticing as they look, you follow the trail left toward the cemetery, where the next chapter of the mystery waits.

A presence on the path
As the cemetery draws nearer, you slow your steps and glance between the trees. There’s no one in sight, yet the feeling that you’re not alone grows harder to shake.
Along the cemetery’s edge
The trees begin to open beside the cemetery, a place of remembrance woven into the history of this community. You follow the decorated trail toward the old trailhead, passing pumpkins and little pops of orange and red before another page invites you to pause.

Around the Other Side
You continue past the cemetery entrance, as the trail curves around. Leading you toward the second last page of the Mystery Story. Have you figured out who left the footsteps behind?

The final stop
A little farther along, the old trailhead sign comes into view, marking the final stop on your walk. With a soft breeze stirring the branches overhead, you settle in to read the last page.

Leaving the mystery behind
With the mystery solved, you take one last look along the trail and feel at ease knowing how it ended. The leaves rustle, the pines sway overhead, and you find yourself wondering if maybe there is something lurking in the woods...
